bunny day

Happy Easter!
I hope you are having a lovely day with people you love and lots of lovely food (like I get too!)

Beautiful naturally dyed eggs have become my favourite part of easter. They are so pretty and easy to make! These ones were coloured with red cabbage and some mashed up blueberries.

my silent friends.

We have, in an attempted to change the phillistine lifestyle we have adopted at home, cut out TV. Well, since we only get 4 channels we have really just cut MTV because we didn't really watch the other three channels anyways. So Teen Moms and the Real World DC have been happily replaced with that old fashioned favourite pastime: books.

I don't know how I even managed to take such a long break from reading in the first place. All these book covers are books I want to read. Spines I want on my shelves. It is true that a book cannot be judged by its cover, but surely the cover is what should attract you to the text within. As someone who is predisposed to be judgemental, it has been a mystery to me that publishers seem only recently to have put together that the superior design of a books cover may allude to the quality of the content within.
Naturally, upon discovering The Book Cover Archive, my summer reading list is reaching a probably unreadable-over-summer number. All the books on this site look good.

Sad & true

Ugh, you're preachin the to the choir, bud.
Except I bet you're job now is actually pretty good. Are you hiring? I've got great interpresonal skills and I know how to use excel. A lot of people lie about that on their resumes but I'm for real.

The Longest Return

Oops. I am worse at this that I anticipated! Oh well.
Not much has been happening anyways, just working away and job hunting away - which is even worse than working away. Not one call back? What's wrong with me??

Poor DK has been sick all last week and this past weekend it just got worse. I made him lovely chicken noodle from scratch (!) and we watched the first 2 Rocky's (not my choice, but I do have a newly formed soft spot for Sly Stallone, he is kind of sweet) and went to the beach, because it was so sunny and warm. Sunday we stayed in because he was feeling a bit worse and so we ate some more soup and watched a Motorhead documentary, awesome! Did you know Lemmy smokes 3 + packs of cigarettes and drinks a whole big thing of bourbon each day - and he has a perfect liver and perfect lungs!? That is seriously rock and roll. He kept calling the film crew "dear" and seemed so nice in an very intimidating way.

Today it snowed. We have been having such tricky weather recently, hot and sunny and a day later ice cold snowy windy. Terrible! I cannot dress myself properly for this indecisive weather. I am never comfortable, just too cold or too cold. And if I'm too hot it is because I have failed (everytime) at layering and I look like sausage that someone has put boots on and a frumpy sweater.

Can you even get cold when you look so sweet? Probably not, as a sausage I wouldn't know exactly. I mean, I'm cold.
This is something I will have to conquer next winter, this winter layering. I've already been tricked by this early false spring and already know that I will hopelessly be underdressed and not warm enough until it is actually spring.

Wow!
Check out these embroidered chairs!
They make me feel like I am looking out the window of a cozy country cottage onto more idyllic pastures than what I am really looking at out the window of my cold apartment (tree with no leaves, other apartment building across the street, traffic).

This, among other things, has all signs pointing to I-really-should-follow-my-love-of-cross-stitching-and-pick-up-a-hoop-and-needle.

These pictures are all taken by my beautiful friend Corie.
Aside from recommending and lending me excellent booking from her extensive library, being insanely funny,  always being excited to see you, and the queen of doling out exceptionally good advice and telling it like it is - she has an amazing eye for taking fantastic photos. I can't wait for her to put out a book for me to put on my coffee table.
So if you didn't know it before, you know it now - Corie is the best!

They've got me thinking about summer, and my other loves, tea and sandwiches.

Ooh, I also dragged DK all around town with me today, and I finally got tickets to Victoria's 2nd annual Tea Festival. Since this is boring to everyone else but me and old ladies I will limit talking about it to one post only (in the future - this bit doesn't count).

Tonight we are going to watch St Elmo's Fire I think.
Tomorrow is going to be beautiful and we are going to go on a long long long bike ride.

I feel this way about almost everything. I think it's pretty. And reassuring.
I say it to myself a lot.

French Macarons - Sometime between Sophia Coppola's Marie Antionette and that episode of Gossip Girl where Chuck finally tells Blair he loves her, I have become totally obsessed with you

I think they are clearly the most perfect looking cookie ever created. Thanks French people! (Or alternately, Italian people - the french macaron has a mysterious past.)
PS: this place looks amazing! (but it's in edmonton)

What follows is the real "about me" section of this blog:

I love tea and cake.I love going for long summertime bike rides.I love books. I love Seinfeld.I love all things fancy.
Sometimes I wear sloppy clothes but I prefer wearing dresses.
I am dreaming of opening my own little shop that sells tea, jam, and scones.
I have red hair. I don't have any freckles.
I have a fantastic best friend named
Linde. I have a very sweet boyfriend we will call DK. (He is very handsome)
I work for a courier company, shipping things from the back of a warehouse. I hope what contributes to this blog reminds me how lovely everything really is when I can't stop seeing beige walls and envelopes.
